Colour harmonies, explained

Colour harmonies are mathematical relationships on the colour wheel. Complementary picks the opposite (180°) for high contrast; analogous picks neighbours (±30°) for harmony; triadic picks three colours 120° apart for balanced palettes; tetradic picks four for rich systems.

Monochromatic and shade variants stay on the same hue and adjust lightness — useful for building UI tints and shades from one brand colour.
