What is a QR code?

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a 2D barcode that encodes text, URLs, contact cards or Wi-Fi credentials into a square matrix of black-and-white modules. It was invented in 1994 for tracking automotive parts and has become the de-facto way to bridge physical and digital — payments, menus, ticketing, networking.

QR codes include error-correction information so they can still be decoded even if up to 30% of the surface is damaged or covered (level H). Higher error correction trades off scannable area for resilience; for printed posters and stickers exposed to wear, Q or H is wise.

What error correction level should I pick?
L (~7% recovery) for clean digital use. M (~15%) for most printed material. Q (~25%) or H (~30%) for posters, stickers and anything exposed to wear or partial obstruction (e.g. logo overlay).
Can I add a logo to the QR code?

What's the maximum data size?
QR codes can encode up to ~4,296 alphanumeric characters or ~2,953 bytes. Long URLs are fine; a 1000-word essay is not.
Does it work for Wi-Fi credentials?
Yes — encode a string like `WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;;` and most phones will offer to connect on scan.
Are PNG and SVG both supported?
Yes. PNG is a raster file good for posts and prints. SVG is vector — scales without quality loss, ideal for print or web at multiple sizes.
