About this tool

Unlike the other Postcrest free tools, this one needs a server roundtrip — browsers can't fetch arbitrary URLs because of CORS. Postcrest fetches the page, extracts the meta tags, and returns them to your browser for the previews to render. No content is stored.

Hardened against SSRF: only public http(s) URLs, no private IPs, 2 MB response cap, 3 redirect cap, HTML content-type only.

Frequently asked questions

Why server-side?
Browsers refuse cross-origin fetches without CORS headers — almost no site sets them, so we have to fetch on your behalf.
Are URLs stored?
No — Postcrest fetches, parses, returns the meta tags, and forgets the URL.
Authenticated pages?
No — we fetch as an unauthenticated bot.
Why is Facebook's preview different from real life?
Facebook re-scrapes via its own debugger and has a separate cache. Use the Sharing Debugger to refresh their cache.
Mobile-friendly?
